Back in early February, someone started a rumor about how NBA player Blake Griffin had slapped Justin Bieber after Justin rumored-ly threatened and verbally assaulted a Starbucks barista in Griffin’s presence. It obviously wasn’t a true story!
On Tuesday, Griffin sat down with Rolling Stone mag to discuss the rumor that he’d smacked the “misbehaving Bieber.”
via the Rolling Stone:
Rolling Stone: There was a Twitter rumor last month that you’d slapped Justin Bieber because he threatened a barista at Starbucks. We know it’s not true. But if you got the chance, would you slap Justin Bieber?
Blake Griffin: If he was tormenting a Starbucks barista, yeah, I’d have to. As a citizen, you do your part. Also, it’s a way of giving back to the baristas for never really leaving a tip.
The viral internet rumor originated on February 11, when a satirical sports blog called Empire Sports claimed that Griffin and Justin had inadvertently crossed paths at a Starbucks in Hollywood. The fabricated story claimed that Justin “snapped” after a barista refused to serve him unless he put on a shirt.
The blog claimed that Griffin told Justin to calm down, but Justin refused, prompting the Clippers star to slap him. “He smacked the sh—t out of him,” a witness allegedly said.
Eventually, Gossip Cop spoke to a source close to Justin, who confirmed that the blog was a hoax.
Tabloids are full of BS and lies just to get attention.
