Forbes compiled the list of the 25 highest-paid musicians in 2013 by estimating income for the 12 months between June 2012 and June 2013 using data from the trade publication Pollstar, trade organization RIAA, and information and sales tracking system Nielsen SoundScan. The magazine also consulted with industry lawyers, managers and some of the musicians. Ticket sales, royalties, merchandise sales and business ventures were included in the estimated pre-tax income before deductions for agents, managers and lawyers.
According to Forbes, Justin Bieber took No.#5 spot with earning $58 million (that sum would have been higher if they include a double-digit million-dollar merchandise advance last year). The #1 spot goes to Madonna, she pulled in $125 million over the past year, making her the highest-paid musician in the world – thanks to her hugely successful MDNA Tour.
Lady Gaga came in second with $80 million, while Bon Jovi ($79 million), Toby Keith ($65 million), Coldplay ($64 million), Taylor Swift ($55 million), Elton John ($54 million) and Beyoncé and Kenny Chesney (tied with $53 million) rounded out the top 10.
