While doing a satellite media tour on Monday ― her 21st birthday ― to promote her upcoming Stars Dance Tour, Gomez was probed about her off-again/on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber's recent bad-boy behavior, and apparently it wasn't a topic she felt like discussing: The interview came to a shrieking halt.
WGN-TV entertainment critic Dean Richards was among the outlets talking to Gomez during her media blitz.
“You're, you know, probably as close a friend to Justin Bieber as they come," he said. "Is there something about him that we don't get or we don't understand? I mean, there is one story after another of, you know, pretty outrageous behavior that we're reading about.”
At first the "Come & Get It" singer looked down uncomfortably ― almost as if she were wishing away the awkward situation ― and then she smiled to someone off-camera. Despite Gomez's obvious hesitation, Richards pressed on, following with,
“What don't we get about him or what is it that he's not getting out there?”
But before giving any insight into life with the 19-year-old Bieber ― which Gomez opened up about the night before during her interview with Ryan Seacrest (she claims she's single despite the recent Instagrams of the two) ― the feed was suddenly terminated and the "Spring Breakers" star's pretty pout disappeared from the screen. Richards then sort of chuckled to himself as he realized the interview had been disconnected.
A rep for Gomez has not yet responded to omg!'s request for comment, so it's unclear whether the disconnection was intentional or if it was some type of glitch (the latter of which occasionally happens during satellite tours). The timing, though, seems to indicate it was no accident.
You coudl clearly see from the beggining when he said, "Justin Bieber" that she kinda switched off and started looking and smiling to other people off set. I believe that she was indicating to them that she was uncomfortable and she didn´t want to do the interview anymore. I think that she let her team know that if someone asks a question about Justin during a satellite interview, that they should unplug immediately.
I don´t get why people are getting pissed off at her. She can choose to answer the question if she fells comfortable doing it. You can´t force her. Cutting the interview wasn´t nice. She should have asked to move on to the next question or something because the question about Justin is personal.
I think that should send a message to interviewers to leave the question about Justin and her relationship with him alone. Her actions pspoke louder than her words. She went there to promote her album song so why don´t they just stick to that instead of making things uncomfortabl for Selena? I feel really bad that she has to deal with all of that. If you want to know about Justin´s recent behaviour, why not ask him instead, because people are putting Selena in an awkward situation when asked such kind of questions.
